School profile

Founded in 1950, Harbin University of Science and Technology (HUST) is a comprehensive multidisciplinary university, featuring engineering as its lead subject. HUST boasts four campuses, three of which are situated in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, with the West Campus as its main campus; another is situated in Rongcheng, Shandong Province. So far, the total number of full-time teachers is 1600, with an academician from China Academy of Engineering. The total number of students is 34500, including over 300 international students. Honored as “the Cradle of Modem Engineers”, the university has been providing high quality education for experts in the sphere of technology. Numerous engineers have graduated from HUST and found employment in various industrial enterprises not only in China, but also in companies in many other countries all over the world. The HUST faculty has made great contributions to the improvement of the quality of the educational process, generating new cutting edge knowledge and technological products. HUST is committed to educating students in science and technology, and in other areas of academia by advancing knowledge, extending vision, improving adaptability, and enhancing innovative awareness of the students. HUST actively promotes international cooperation and academic exchanges. It has established long-term cooperation with 60 universities and research institutes in more than 30 countries in Europe, America and the Asia-Pacific region. In the following years, HUST will extend and speed up international communication and cooperation with overseas universities to join the world of globalization.
