Harbin is the provincial capital of Heilongjiang Province and an important political, economic and cultural center of Northeast China. The whole city covers an area of 53,100km2, with a total population of around 10,630,000.Located in the center of Northeast Asia, Harbin is called “The bright pearl on the Bridge of Eurasia Land”, and it is also an important hub of the Eurasian land bridge and air corridor. All the rivers within the area of Harbin belong to the Songhua river network , and the rainfall is mainly concentrated between June and September, with an average annual precipitation of 569.1m. Known as the “Ice City”, Harbin has a medium-temperate continental monsoon climate, with long winters and short summers. The volume of passengers entering and exiting Harbin Taiping International Airport reaches 4,437,00 persons every year. There are 23 domestic and overseas airlines operating inHarbin Airport, and opened 82 domestic and international lines,reaching 47 cities. The air transportation network, with Harbin atits center, radiates to other important cities of China and connects the surrounding countries such as Russia, Japan and Korea, as well asEuropean and major American countries. Harbin Taiping International Airport has become a significant air harbor of Northeast Asia. Harbin bears the distinct historical culture of northern ethnic minorities, and also combines western and eastern culture. It is a famous historical and tourist city in China, with many beautiful names such as “the City of Culture”, “the City of Music”, “Ice City”, “APearl under the Neck of the Swan”, “Eastern Moscow”, and“Eastern Little Paris”. Famous tourist destinations in Harbin include the Sun Island, SiberianTiger Park, St.Sophia Cathedral, Central Street, Yabuli Skiing Resort, and the Ice andSnow Exhibition in winter.
